Support For Students
In recent years we have been proud to offer support to students across Portsmouth to allow them to buy books etc to complete their studies.
Students across a range of courses have been awarded a Bentley Trust Young Persons’ grant.
Some of these students have since enrolled onto PGCE teacher training courses and PHD’s.
Applications for these grants, which are normally awarded in November/December each year, are available via the Student Finance Centre at the University, not directly from the trust, if applying from UoP. For other academic settings use the standard form but include a letter of recomendation from your school or college

“The Bentley Trust grant has helped me greatly in my final year of study. It has allowed me to afford resources such as books and online material which will aid me in acquiring a greater mark. It has also given me a chance to purchase material that will be useful for me after my final year at Uni in achieving further Certifications. I am truly grateful for the grand that I have received. “
“When I was first informed I was being nominated for the award I was speechless, to even be considered for something like this was an actual honour. (Laura has been like a guardian angel in my university years always listening and helping me when I had nowhere to turn, so to be nominated by such a fantastic person in itself was more the honour). I am so grateful and honoured, awards like this give me more than just the award itself but hope that things are looking brighter for me and can’t believe something like this happened to me. (I would like to thank Portsmouth student finance department in particular Laura Carpenter for all her help support and I wouldn’t have got anywhere without her).“
